- Sets goal and initiatives
- Defines a strategy that is market and customer-driven
- Defines what want and how to get there
- Tracks goals and makes changes to the plan accordingly
Accountant:
- Own the performance of the product and their strategy
- Determine how to measure
- Dashboard of performance metrics
- Live by the metrics and take account on an ongoing basis
Aligner
- Driving strategic alignment within the product and the product team
- Ensure that the strategy is deeply linked to the day to day work
- Builds cross functional plans
Driver:
- Pushing the team harder to get the work done
- Responds to requests and problems quickly because they cannot afford to slow the team down
- Eager to make an impact every day
Fighter:
- Fights to make the truth about the customers and the product known
- Refuses to get distracted from the strategy
- Get excited when a new idea shows to potential to truly improve the product for customers
Evangelist:
- Greatest marketer of the product internally and externally
- When competing for shared resources
- Biggest fan because tied to its success
- Natural evangelist shares their enthusiasm for tomorrow
Fixer:
- Fixes everything!
- Tunes the strategy based on analysis
- First called to solve complex problems
- Knows which problems to pay attention to and when not
- When to decide not to meddle or when to dig in
